The breathtaking Moon Bay Waterfall, a natural wonder, has been transformed into an architectural marvel! The Fujian Wuyi Mountain National Park Moon Bay Observation Deck is a testament to the harmonious blend of nature and human ingenuity. But here's where it gets fascinating...
CLAB Architects took on the challenge of designing a viewing platform at this iconic location in 2023. The waterfall, formed by a human-made dam from 1979, has become an integral part of the landscape over time. The dam's crescent shape gives Moon Bay its distinctive name. And this is the part most people miss—the interplay between human intervention and nature has created a unique environment.
The observation deck is strategically positioned to offer a phenomenal experience. Upstream, the water appears serene, while downstream, erosion reveals the mighty river stones. This design brings visitors closer to the earth while providing a central point that connects the sky, mountain, and water in perfect harmony.
Xu Lang, the lead architect, has truly crafted a masterpiece that showcases the beauty of architecture and nature's resilience. The project's completion in 2024 is a significant milestone, offering a new perspective on how we interact with our environment.
