Urgent Repairs Underway: Water Main Issues in Halifax
On January 9, 2026, Halifax Water crews have launched into action to tackle two critical water main repairs within the Halifax Regional Municipality. Here’s everything you need to know about the situation:
Wyse Road, Dartmouth (Close to 157 Wyse Road)
Currently, water service has been suspended in this vicinity, and unfortunately, we don’t have an estimated time for when it will be restored. Residents nearby might notice a drop in water pressure. Traffic in the area has been reduced to a single lane, with traffic control personnel managing the flow, and the bike lane is also closed. It’s advisable to expect delays and consider alternative routes to avoid inconveniences.
Main Avenue, Halifax (Near 299 Main Avenue)
Similarly, water service here has also been temporarily halted, with no clear timeline for restoration available at this moment. The work zone is experiencing stop-and-go traffic; however, pedestrians can continue to use the sidewalks. Again, anticipate delays and think about taking different routes if possible.
