It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Robert “Bingo Bob” Laurin, a man whose laughter and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone he met. But here’s where it gets emotional—Bob, aged 67, peacefully left us on Friday, February 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family at the Lady Dunn Health Centre in Wawa. His journey may have ended, but the memories he created will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Born to the late Therese Fortier (née Clermont Fortier) and Gerard Laurin, Bob was a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his siblings, Rose Stewart (and her husband Don “Stewie”) and Richard Fortier, as well as his adoring nieces and nephews: Tammy (and her partner Jake), Danielle, Celeste, and Vincent. And this is the part most people miss—Bob’s impact extended far beyond his family; he was a beloved figure in White River, where his many friends will deeply feel his absence.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated doctors and nurses at the Lady Dunn Health Centre, whose compassionate care provided comfort during Bob’s final days. Their kindness will never be forgotten.
Honoring Bob’s wishes, cremation will take place at the River’s Edge Cremation Centre in Sault Ste. Marie. A celebration of his life, filled with stories, laughter, and tributes to his vibrant spirit, will be held later this year. But here’s where it gets controversial—how do we best celebrate a life as unique as Bob’s? Should it be a quiet gathering or a grand event? We invite your thoughts in the comments below.
Funeral arrangements have been thoughtfully handled by Kerry Funeral Home in Wawa, reachable at 1-800-439-4937 or online at www.kerryfuneralhome.ca.
