A treasure hunt for Beatles fans has begun! Unveiling a unique promotion, a trail of hidden postcards has given fans a first look at an upcoming quadrilogy of films about the iconic band. But here's the twist: these postcards are limited edition, with only 1,000 copies featuring each member of the Beatles.
One lucky finder is Louis Kuye, a student at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), who discovered a postcard with Paul McCartney's image. The school, founded by Sir Paul McCartney himself, received 80 of these exclusive cards, hiding them around campus for students to uncover. Louis plans to make the most of this discovery, hoping to have it signed by the music legend on graduation day, a tradition for LIPA students.
The postcards promote an ambitious film project by director Sam Mendes, who will tell the story of the Beatles through four individual films, each focusing on a different band member. The films star Paul Mescal, Harris Dickinson, Joseph Quinn, and Barry Keoghan as the iconic Fab Four. And this is the part most people miss: the postcards were strategically placed at significant Beatles locations, including Liverpool, New York, Tokyo, and Hamburg, creating a global scavenger hunt for fans.
Louis, on a quest to find his postcard, said he was determined after seeing a billboard at LIPA. His persistence paid off when he discovered the 'Paul' card in the library, featuring a photo of Paul Mescal as Sir Paul and a unique serial number. But here's where it gets controversial—the postcard's value might be in the eye of the beholder. While Louis is thrilled with his find, he acknowledges the uniqueness of his card, "It's just a blank postcard, but it has the total number of postcards made. I've got number 63 out of 1,000."
The film project, announced in April last year, aims to offer a fresh perspective on the Beatles' story. Sir Sam Mendes promises an intriguing narrative, stating, "They're four very different individuals, and these films will explore their unique journeys."
The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, with its rich history and famous alumni, is at the heart of this exciting promotion. Founded by Mark Featherstone-Witty and Sir Paul McCartney, the school has become a hub for creative talent.
So, Beatles fans, are these postcards a collector's dream or just a clever marketing gimmick? What do you think? Share your thoughts and keep an eye out for these hidden treasures!
